Laudium crime has decreased, say residents

Laudium residents say they feel crime in the area has been on a steady decline in recent weeks.

“We have had no reports of housebreaking in recent days and this may be an indication that things are going in the right direction,” said a community leader, who asked to remain anonymous.

Late last year however, crime in the area reached alarming levels.

Residents even sought help from community safety MEC Sizakele Nkosi-Malobana, accusing the police of not doing enough to patrol the area.

The police said they could not confirm whether crime had decreased as they only dealt with incidents on a case by case basis.
