The Pretoria Boeremark is homeless.

Rekord has learnt that after 13 year at the Pioneer Museum in Pretoria the market, has been told it has four weeks to find a new home.

Market manager, Johan van Wyk said on Monday, 10 April that he received a letter from the operators of the museum, Ditsong that said the market needed to relocate.

He said last year Ditsong had informed him it had decided to lease out the space used by the 240 exhibitors who comprise the market by tender, and that his understanding was that Boeremark was one of two competitors for the tender.

“Recently, I was called back for another meeting where Ditsong told me that the first tender procedures were handled incorrectly and that the correct process needs to be implemented.”

Van Wyk said he was very disappointed as he was under the impression that there was a mutually excellent working relationship between the market and Ditsong.

“We are one big happy family at the market, and it will continue to be a happy place for years to come.”
