Mooiplaas residents took their frustration to the streets on Thursday morning in a service delivery protest.

Constable Tumisang Moloto, spokesperson for the Erasmia police, said a group of about 350 residents from the informal settlement gathered on the R55.

Moloto said the protesters barricaded the road with burning tyres and stones.

“We did not receive any incidents of violence, injuries or damages on properties.”

Moloto said the public order police unit and metro police were deployed to monitor the situation.

He said by the afternoon, the road had been cleared and traffic was flowing smoothly.

Moloto said no arrests were made.
