An 88-year-old man who went missing on Friday, was found the very same evening thanks to Centurion’s residents

Willie van Niekerk went missing after he left his home in Rooihuiskraal to go to the municipal offices in Die Hoewes.

“It looks like oom Willie took a longer trip as he also had to go and pay his water and electricity bill,” said Paul Gerber, of Monitor Net emergency services.

Gerber was part of the search team who helped locate Van Niekerk.

“Thanks to the amazing people from Centurion – all security groups, the Rooihuiskraal ward councillor, residents and everyone else involved – we were able to locate Oom Willie in Queenswood.”

Gerber said Van Niekerk was found unharmed.
