Two parents have been hospitalised after they were brutally beaten, stabbed and robbed in front of their two young sons in their home in Frederik Avenue, Eldoraigne on Thursday morning.

According to Centurion Concerned Citizens spokesperson Hannes du Buisson, the family was sleeping when four armed men broke into their home around 02:00.

“The father woke up when his bedroom light was switched on. As he tried to get up, he was hit over his head with a monkey wrench,” said Du Buisson.

His wife then woke up and was stabbed in the arm, which bled intensely.

Du Buisson said: “When the father came to again he bravely started to fight the assailants. Three of them attacked him with knives, whilst the fourth one used the monkey wrench.”

“During the fight he sustained several stab wounds – twice in the chest which punctured his lung, one above the right eye and several in his legs. He was also hit two more times with the monkey wrench on the head.”

The attackers then set upon the wife, stabbing her several more times.

The couple’s eight and ten-year-old sons were in their own rooms at the time.

While the men searched the house, the 10-year-old joined his parents in their room.

The robbers then fled with some of the family’s electronics.

The entire family then drove themselves to hospital. Both the mother and father had to undergo emergency surgery.

Both children were unharmed, but according to Du Buisson they fear that the men might return.

Du Buisson said the attackers gained access to the house by breaking open a security gate and back door.

“One of the suspects had dreadlocks and was wearing a yellow, blue and red striped jersey.”
