Nine accidents hit Pretoria

A total of nine serious accidents have occurred in Pretoria since Thursday.

In the west, a bakkie overturned on the N4 highway on Saturday, scattering its cargo of wood on the road surface.

Best Care ambulance service spokesperson Xander Loubser said according to information gathered from the scene, the driver lost control and the vehicle overturned.

“Two occupants sustained slight injuries and were treated on the scene,” he said.

The accident happened on the eastbound lanes before the Mabopane offramp around 16:00.

Wet conditions resulted in four major accidents in the west of and central Pretoria on Thursday.

Loubser said at least 21 people were injured.

In Centurion two major accidents occurred in Lyttelton and on the N1, close to Midrand.

According to Orange Fox medical rescue spokesperson, Marcé Bester, they responded to the accident in the Lyttelton area on Saturday.

ER24 spokesperson, Russel Meiring said that no one was injured in the accident.

The Tshwane metro police, Lyttelton SAPS and Centow was on the scene.

Orange Fox also responded to a multi vehicle accident on the N1 close to Midrand on Thursday morning.

No one was injured in the accident.

On Saturday evening, Emer-G-Med responded to a serious collision on corner of Tegel and Olivenhoutbosch roads in Centurion.

“Upon arrival paramedics and our road doctor found that three vehicles had been involved in the crash, leaving four people with minor to moderate injuries,” spokesperson Braam Kruger said.

The patients were assessed and treated at the scene before being transported to various nearby hospitals for further care.

On Friday, Emer-G-Med responded a bus crash on the R55 in Zwartkops.

The bus carrying school kids had lost control and crashed into a barrier.

“Fortunately no one was injured in the collision. The kids were loaded into a second bus and taken to school,” Kruger said.
