NEWSFLASH: Security officer shot for refusing thugs access to gambling house

A security officer working in Pretoria Road in Silverton is in a critical condition after being shot on Friday night.

According to Chris Botha, spokesperson for the Netcare 911 emergency medical services, a Netcare 911 vehicle in the area was flagged down by the SAPS around 21:30 to treat the man.

“Paramedics treated the critically wounded man at the scene before transporting him to a specialised hospital for the care that he required,” Botha said.

Botha said reports from the scene indicated that the security officer was trying to prevent two men from entering a slot machine business when he was shot.

“Exact detail however will form part of the police investigation.”

An inquiry has been sent to the police for comment.
