Rekord wins three times

It was a big night for Rekord at the 2016 Caxton Excellence Awards with a total of three awards and two runner-up titles.

The awards celebrate the cream of the crop in the Caxton family.

The awards took place in the Globe theatre at Silverstar Casino in Krugersdorp. Goggles, leather corsets and old watch gears were seen everywhere as the theme was steampunk.

Guests were entertained by steampunk dancers, the comedian Riaad Moosa and musician, Matthew Mole.

Group editor, Sunette Visser claimed the prize for the best emerging market newspaper, Rekord Noweto. Sales manager, Sabine Goodwin, Alicia Lewis and Leanne Grunewald claimed the prize for the best original idea.

Journalist, Gopolang Chawane won the award for the best contribution to the Citizen newspaper.

Ronald Sibiya was the runner-up for the best hard news photograph and Alicia Lewis, Shirley Frattaroli, Sunette Visser, Mariette van Niekerk and Sabine Goodwin took the runner-up title for the best major advertisement or feature.
