NEWSFLASH: Armed robbery at Centurion jewellery shop



It has been confirmed that eight armed men stormed the Arthur Kaplan jewellery shop inside the Centurion Mall on Sunday afternoon.

The Arthur Kaplan jewellery store inside the mall was robbed of an undisclosed amount of jewellery.

According to the management of the Centurion Mall the incident happened around midday on Sunday.

“The suspects gained access to a jewelry store and escaped when security responded. A security guard was hurt in the incident and is receiving medical attention. Suspects fired shots as they were escaping but no one has been injured.”

They added that police were still at the site and following up on leads.

“We are cooperating wth the authorities.”

Various armed response security services, the police and local CPF members were at the scene.

Captain Coba Brits, a police spokesperson confirmed the armed robbery.

Brits said no-one has been arrested and that nobody has been shot or hurt.

According to Brits eight armed suspects are confirmed to have entered the jewellery store.

According to Gerrie Schoeman, spokesperson for the Lyttelton CPF, staff members are still traumatised and were not able to provide more information.”
