Southdowns dancers dancing their way to the top

Rochelle Taylor and Tsebang Sipambo recently took part in the Dance Star World Championships, in Croatia. Both of these girls are in grade 12 and take dance as a subject at Southdowns College High School. The highlight of the trip was that their modern group called, “A Place Called Limbo”, was entered into the gala evening, which is the main event of the competition, and was chosen as the winning group.

Sipambo was the only solo dancer from SA to be invited to perform at the gala evening out of 55 countries represented. She was placed second for her jazz solo and was voted the best female talent at the Dance STAR World Competition. According to Amelia van Ryneveld, head of dance at Southdowns College, the commitment, persistence and passion of these dancers made an unbeatable combination for success.

“On behalf of the Southdowns dance department, we would like to congratulate Sipambo and Taylor on their outstanding achievements.”
