Laudium man robbed after returning from London

A man was robbed in his Laudium home on Wednesday morning after he had returned from an overseas trip.

Police spokesperson Constable Mandlakayise Zwane said the robbery happened around 02:00 in Kathmandu Street.

He said the 52-year-old victim had arrived in his Laudium home on Tuesday night following his trip from London.

“Upon his arrival at home, he went to sleep after making sure the house doors and windows were locked,” said Zwane.

“He was abruptly woken up at 02:00 by two men armed with pangas, demanding cash.”

Zwane said the victim was tied up with shoelaces before the robbers took R8 204 in US dollars.

The suspects also took the victim’s two cellphones before they escaped on foot.

The victim was left unharmed.

Laudium police are investigating a case of house robbery.
