Police search for hijackers and robbers in Olievenhoutbosch

Police are searching for two men who hijacked a 25-year-old man in Olievenhoutbosch on Friday.

SAPS spokesperson Constable Mandlakayise Zwane said this happened in Morudi, extension 36 around 18:30.

Two unknown men approached the victim, Mengistu Arkelo, after he had parked his silver Toyota Quantum with registration number FJ 56 JC GP,” said Zwane.

“The men threatened him with a firearm.”

Zwane said when Arkelo got out of the car the men forcefully searched him, took his car keys and drove off.

“No shots were fired and no injuries were sustained.”

Olievenhoutbosch police are investigating a case of business robbery that also took place on Friday.

Zwane said the robbery took place at the Navis supermarket in extension 19 around 18:30.

“The complainant says he was at his supermarket when an unknown man allegedly came in and asked for cigarettes, which he did not stock.”

“Two other men then stormed into the shop and threatened the owner with firearms.”

Zwane said the three men forced the business owner to lie on the floor while they took three Samsung Galaxy phones valued at R7 000, Nokia phones valued at R2 500, R2 000 in cash and the airtime machine valued at R2 000.

He said the men managed to escape.

“No shots were fired and no injuries were sustained.”
