Police arrest three men for robbery in Olievenhoutbosch

Three people were arrested on Friday, in connected with an armed robbery in Olievenhoutbosch.

Police spokesperson Constable Mandlakayise Zwane said the robbery occurred at a local bar in Iningisi Street around 15:00 on the same day.

“The victim was ambushed and severely assaulted by three unknown men who drove away in his yellow Opel Astra,” said Zwane.

“Fortunately, the victim was able to immediately phone his wife and asked her to call Tracker and the police to notify them that his vehicle had just been stolen.”

Zwane said the man was taken to Unitas hospital in an ambulance.

He was later transferred to Jacaranda hospital.

“The victim sustained severe injuries to his head, and bruises on his hands and arms.”

“He could not recall everything that happened when questioned by the police. This could have been due to his severe head injuries.”

Zwane said later that afternoon the police and Tracker were able to recover the vehicle in Germiston.

Three men were found in possession of the vehicle.

“The police are currently investigating and more charges could be added.”

The three arrested will appear in court soon.
