UPDATE: Centurion con-artists still active

A Centurion couple accused of scamming apparently continues to wreak havoc wherever they go.

Rekord’s sister publication, the Middelburg Observer earlier this month reported that the wives of the notorious coffin-pair had been approached by the Centurion couple.

The coffin-pair was recently convicted of, among other things, attempted murder after they were seen threatening a man on video to burn him alive.

Middelburg Observer reported that the Centurion couple offered to get an advocate to get their husbands out on bail.

Apparently, the wives were furious as they paid R24 000 to get the help that they were offered, but in return got threats from the couple.

The coffin-pair’s legal representative, Elsabe Juyn, told Rekord they were in the process of gathering evidence before going to court.

The Lyttelton police are investigating at least one charge against the couple for allegedly selling a man’s two vehicles.

The complainant, Kabous Krige, said he responded to an advertisement where the couple offered financial assistance to the public to buy a new or used car.

Krige said he had a bakkie and motorcycle he had given to the couple as a deposit for the new vehicle he was still waiting for.

Another complainant appointed a legal representative against the couple. The retired woman allegedly gave the couple about half-a-million rand for a double-cab bakkie that also never realised.

A Pretoria dentist blacklisted the woman in the couple after she and her children received dental care and never paid for it since early last year.

The bill is said to be more than R30 000.
