UPDATE: Cricket coaches found dead in Laudium

The bodies of two cricket coaches were found in Laudium on Thursday.

Police spokesperson Captain Augustinah Selepe the bodies were found at Laudium Oval cricket grounds in 19th Avenue around 07:00

“A member of the community, Mr Umar Assad, discovered the bodies while he was practicing cricket in the morning,” said Selepe.

“He informed the security guards who then contacted the police.”

Selepe said the men were found inside staff quarters, which they shared with two other men.

She said the bodies were found in the bathroom while the other two men were found brutally assaulted in another room.

Selepe said the motive of the murder and assault were still unknown.

A murder and attempted murder docket has been opened at Atteridgeville police station.

“We urge anyone with information that can assist in apprehending the suspects to inform their nearest police station or to contact 0860-10111.”
