Power outages in Pretoria following storm

A severe thunderstorm on Monday evening resulted in power outages in several areas in Pretoria.

Some of the suburbs that experienced power outage were Montana, Kilner Park, Monument Park, Nellmapius, Wapadrand and Garsfontein.

The Tshwane metro spokesperson Lindela Mashigo told Rekord on Tuesday that electricians were deployed to restore power.

“The overnight storm caused outages throughout the city where seven regions were without power. We have our technicians who are busy attending to the problem. We apologise for the inconvenience caused to affected residents.”

Mashigo was not able to confirm how long it would take to restore power in all areas affected.

Tshwane metro urged residents to report #PowerOutages by SMSing the word “power” followed by acc no to 44676/082 612 0333 for a ref number or report on 012 358 9999.
