Domestic worker found dead in Laudium

A 41-year-old domestic worker was found dead in her employer’s home in Laudium on Friday.

Police spokesperson Constable Tumisang Moloto said the woman was found shortly after 14:00.

The body of the deceased was discovered in the bathroom by her employer when she arrived from work.

Moloto said police were immediately alerted.

“Upon arrival, they found the body on the floor with hands tied behind her back and a hat stuffed in her mouth. It is believed the woman suffocated to death. It’s unclear how suspects gained entry into the house.”

He said the motive for the killing was unknown.

Police will investigate circumstances surrounding this incident. A case of murder has been opened at the Laudium SAPS, Moloto said.

The police appeal to anyone with information which could lead to the arrest of the perpetrators to contact their local police station, 08600 10111 or SMS tip-off on crimeline number 32211.

No arrests have been made at this stage.
