NEWSFLASH: Nigerian national dies in Olievenhoutbosch street fight

A man was killed after an alleged street fight over a phone on Monday afternoon in the Olivenhoutbosch area.

It was a “mob justice” incident according to police spokesperson captain Mavela Masondo.

The deceased was wrestling with the arrested suspect over a phone.

“The community joined in and continued to assault the victim,” he said.

Masondo said the victim was Nigerian and the detained suspect was South African.

“Paramedics declared him dead at the scene,” he said.

After the incident, a group of Nigerians went to the Olivenhoutbosch police station to find out what happened at the scene.
