Man killed on smallholding in Centurion

A man was shot dead during a house robbery in Erasmia Centurion on Saturday evening.

Police spokesperson Captain Agnes Huma said four robbers gained access to a house on the Doornrantjies shallholding through an open door around 20:30 while the family was sitting in the living room.

“They were in possession of firearms and a crowbar.”

Huma said the robbers wore balaclavas. They handcuffed the man of the house and took jewellery, a laptop, cellphones and a TV.

Huma said a neighbour heard the commotion and went to assist.

“The neighbour entered the same premises with his shotgun to assist after he heard the noise,” said Huma.

One of the robbers shot him in the upper body and he was declared dead on the scene.

Huma said the police were investigating the murder and house robbery.
