Olievenhoutbosch police arrested 30 people during an operation on Friday morning
They were arrested for a variety of offences including public drinking; drinking and driving; selling liquor without a liquor licence; possession of drugs and dagga.
Olievenhoutbosch police worked in partnership with other law enforcement agencies.
The operation yielded much success in terms of visibility, said police spokesperson Constable Kate Selepe.
“The communities living in the informal settlements face many hardships and when they see the police are visible, it gives [them] some sort of comfort,” said Selepe.
Selepe urged Olievenhoutbosch residents to report crimes or suspicious activity in the area.
“If we do not know what is happening, then we cannot respond.”
