NEWSFLASH: LISTEN: Dramatic Lyttelton car chase ends in arrest

A suspected car thief was arrested in Lyttelton on Tuesday afternoon after a dramatic car chase.

Police were patrolling in Doringkloof when they spotted a suspicious-looking vehicle, said police spokesman Captain Dave Miller.

The officers followed the silver Hyundai i20A and it sped off, sparking a chase.

One of the suspects jumped out of the moving vehicle, but the officers pursued him on foot and arrested him.

The vehicle got away, but the arrested man had two bags containing various car break-in tools.

“The suspect will face charges relating to possession of car break-in implements and will soon appear in court,” Miller said.

Police will also investigate whether the arrested man could be linked to several car thefts in the area.
