A coordinated and quick response by a private security company led to the arrest of an alleged hijacker at a petrol station in Centurion last night.
This was after private security firm Monitor Net received a report of a hijacking in progress at the petrol station in question.
Three vehicles responded to the call and the alleged hijacker tried to escape when they arrived on the scene.
Community members however managed to stop him from fleeing.
The suspect was arrested and was found to be in possession with what appeared to be a small calibre handgun, but turned out to be a fake gun.
The suspect was handed over to the police.
