The murder of mountain biker Cecil du Toit is still being investigated, Lyttelton police said.
Du Toit was killed on 26 November 2017, two days before his 51st birthday and his body was discovered behind the Irene Farm Village.
Police suspected the motive for the murder was robbery.
A family friend said Du Toit went riding that Sunday and when he didn’t return home, friends and family became concerned.
At the time, Lyttelton police spokesperson Dave Miller said police had gathered forensic evidence at the scene.
Miller warned bikers and runners to be vigilant at all times, especially when alone.
“But if you have to, opt for populated areas.”
