Young Centurion angler makes northern team

Jordan Bridger

A grade 9 Southdowns College learner was recently selected to represent SA Bass Anglers Association (Sasacc) Northern Division at the junior nationals, a feat equivalent to a provisional team selection.

Sasacc organises competitive Bass Angling in SA and the Northern Division comprises of Gauteng North, Limpopo and Mpumalanga.

“I have been fishing for Northern Division for two years now,” says Centurion learner Jordan Bridger.

“Bass fishing has always been in my genes, I was three or four years old when I had my birthday party at a trout farm.

Everyone was catching little fish but eventually, towards the end of the day I wondered off to another dam and on my first cast I caught my first ever bass and my craze started off from there.”

On achieving his Gauteng North colours, Jordan had fished a difficult season but managed to tie for the 3rd place.

He hopes to achieve Protea colours after the Junior Nationals, taking place from 5 to 9 April.

“I think I did quite good but hopefully this year I can do even better than 3rd place at divisionals and hopefully if all my experience pays off, I’ll be in the Protea team after nationals.

I would like to thank my family and especially my dad who has taught me everything I know in becoming a better angler by the day.”
