A family of five living on a smallholding on Knoppieslaagte just outside Centurion was attacked in their home on Wednesday morning.
Six men gained entry to the house by using a crowbar, said AfriForum community safety head Ian Cameron.
“It is believed that five of the suspects had firearms.”
Cameron arrived at the house shortly after the attack.
The house belonged to an elderly couple living there with their two grown-up children and two grandchildren.
Cameron said the elderly woman was forced by the intruders to round up the money in her house for them.
“They told the woman that they would hurt her husband if she did not comply.”
Cameron said what was shocking, was that the thugs groped the younger woman in front of her children.
“They didn’t rape her. Luckily it didn’t go that far, but it is just as vile.”
Cameron said this was the second attack on the family within seven months.
“They said they recognised the men from the previous attack.”
Cameron said the government’s inaction on farm attacks was astonishing.
“We do encourage people to strengthen safety structures around them, including joining the local neighbourhood watch.”
He said the matter is under police investigation.
The police could not be reached for comment.
