Two men were caught by members of a private security company in the east of Pretoria after they allegedly broke into a car at a petrol station in Lyttelton, Centurion on Thursday evening.
A resident saw the suspects fleeing the garage in a car, according to police spokesperson Captain Dave Miller.
The witness took a photo of the suspects’ vehicle, which he shared on a WhatsApp crime prevention group.
“The suspects were cornered within minutes of the break-in,” said Miller.
The men were found in possession of suspected stolen property as well as a laptop which was allegedly stolen from the car at the petrol station.
Car break-in implements were also found in their possession.
The men will be charged for possession of stolen goods and theft out of a motor vehicle.
Miller said Lyttelton police would like to thank the community and security companies for their assistance.
