The police have launched a manhunt for two people who shot and injured a taxi-hailing service driver during an attempted robbery in Centurion on Friday evening.
Police spokesperson Constable Tumisang Moloto said that police were investigating a case of attempted murder after a 32-year-old taxi-hailing service driver was shot at by his passengers in an attempted robbery in Mimosa Road.
Centurion concerned citizens spokesperson Hannes du Buisson said the driver had picked up the two passengers at Forest Hill mall.
“On their way to Sutherland, the passengers pulled out a gun and asked for all his money.
When he told them he had none, an altercation which ended in an exchange of gunfire had ensued.”
Du Buisson said around nine shots were fired between the driver and his alleged passengers.
ER24 spokesperson Ineke van Huyssteen the emergency services personnel treated the seriously injured driver for his two gunshot wounds to the chest then took him to a nearby hospital in advanced life support.
