Power outage puts Home Affairs offline

Several Department of Home Affairs branches throughout Pretoria were off-line on Wednesday because of power supply interruptions.

The system will remain offline for the most part of the day in the affected branches, the department said.

Home Affairs is experiencing a live captures system downtime, due to interruption of power supply.”

“Disaster recovery efforts are underway and we expect systems to be fully online by end of business today.”

Services which have been affected are those relating to applications for and collections of smart ID cards and passports.

Several areas in Pretoria were hit by power cuts after a fire at a substation burn down.
