In a bid to reduce the prevalence of smash and grabs, the CPF had a special operation at the Rooihuiskraal bridge this week.
Lance Ferreira-Netta said the operation targeted Rooihuiskraal and The Reeds which have been plagued by smash and grabs.
He said the operations take place on a weekly basis because there was at least one or two smash and grab incidents reported weekly.
He said a part of the plan was to rid the roadside of bushes which in some cases were used by smash and grabbers as places of hiding.
“We are starting to show criminals that we do not stand for criminal activities and won’t tolerate crime in any form.”
“We still need the community to get involved and authorities to jump in and assist in clearing tree lines but we are receiving assistance from private security firms such as Monitor Net and Copwatch.”
He commended the effort from the patrollers.
