The sinkhole in Clubview, Centurion, has been successfully repaired leading to the opening of the intersection of Kameeldoring and Poplar avenues.
Repairs on the sinkhole that formed in October 2016 were scheduled to be completed by the end of this month.
Ward councillor Ina Strijdom said the total cost of repairs was between R2.5 and R3-million.
“The road has been tarred and is once again open for traffic,” Strijdom said.
Last month Strijdom said an entire block of homes were almost cut off when the sinkhole first formed.
“This would have affected about 600 households who would not have been able to access their homes,” said Strijdom.
Two more sinkholes have formed in Valhalla, one in Godiva Avenue and the other in Alaric Road.
These will in all likelihood not be repaired soon as they will have to be attended to once repairs on the current sinkholes are completed.
