An elderly woman died on Wednesday afternoon after she was apparently crushed by a tree at her Knoppieslaagte residence near Centurion.

Paramedics arrived on the scene around 14:30 on Wednesday to find the woman lying next to the fallen tree according to ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring.

“Several people had begun to gather around the woman who is believed to be in her 70s,” said Meiring.

“The woman was assessed but unfortunately found to have already succumbed to her numerous injuries.”

She was declared dead at the scene.

Details surrounding the incident are unknown at this stage.

“Local authorities were on the scene for further investigations,” said Meiring.
