Two men aged 26 and 36 will appear in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court this week on charges of attempted murder after they were arrested for shooting a man in Laudium.
The shooting took place on Saturday afternoon in Primrose Street.
Police were called to the scene after the two together with a third man shot the victim in the eye following an argument.
“The victim claims that he and a group of friends were sitting and drinking when an argument began,” said Tshwane west police spokesperson Constable Mandlakayise Zwane.
Zwane said the victim alleged that he was physically assaulted by one of the suspects who later fled the scene along with his two accomplices.
“The three later returned carrying firearms. They then proceeded to shoot the victim in his eye,” said Zwane.
The victim was taken to the Kalafong hospital where he is currently recovering from his injury, according to Zwane.
Two of the three suspects were arrested.
“The third was able to evade police and is still being sought,” said Zwane.
Two pistols and a revolver were recovered. Of the firearms only one is licensed and is believed to belong to the man who fled the scene.
