A man believed to be linked to smash-and-grab crimes in the Hennops Park area was arrested on Friday morning.
According to Wierdabrug CPF chairperson David Mauritz, the arrest was made shortly before the start of a high visibility operation by authorities.
“The arrest was made by Wierdabrug police with the help of private security companies,” he said.
“We believe the man might be linked to smash and grabs and other minor crimes in the area.”
The high visibility patrol, which targeted known smash-and-grab crimes in Centurion, took place at three hotspots.

These were the N14 bridge in Rooihuiskraal and the corner of Lenchen and Machiel avenues.
The roads near the Zwartkop high school and Hennops Park primary school were also patrolled.
“We chose the area near the schools because a learner had been robbed and stabbed earlier in the week,” said Mauritz.
“We hope that the operation will help to curb these kinds of crimes.”
Mauritz thanked police, private security companies Copwatch and Monitor Net, as well as the CPF members for assisting in fighting crime.
