Stolen copper cables found in Lyttelton

About 40kg of illegal copper cables were found at a scrap metal dealership in Centurion on Monday night.

Democratic Alliance councillor Ina Strydom said the discovery was made during a routine investigation by the Tshwane metro police department’s Special Projects Unit and the electricity department.

“We assisted the Special Projects Unit with identifying the stolen copper cables in the Lyttelton area. We found about 40kg of copper,” she said

Strydom said two people were arrested and were being held at the Lyttelton police station.

“The DA would like to congratulate the Special Projects team with keeping up the good work. Cable theft has noticeably decreased since the start of the spot checks,” she said.
