Three men were caught by security staff at a retail store in [email protected] after trying to flee with stolen shoes worth R5000 inside a children’s pram.

Orange Fox Security general manager Andre Hills said the men made their way into the store on Wednesday afternoon, pushing a children’s pram.

“The three were loading a large numbers of shoes into the pram,” said Hills.

He said a security officer picked them up on CCTV surveillance and alerted security staff immediately.

They reacted swiftly and stopped the three men. As the security officers were about to apprehend the men inside the store, one of them tried to escape by running away.

“Security inside the store apprehended the two men,” said Hills.

A woman saw the third man was hiding under a bakkie in the parking lot and alerted a security officer.

“The three men are in custody at the store, awaiting the police,” Hills said.
